Dear Friends! Greetings from Fr. Mathias, the Principal of Don Bosco Matriculation School, Egmore!
“Apart from me, you can do nothing” thus says the Lord in John 15: 5.”

We wish him all the best and pray for him as he takes up the new responsibility. Let us raise up our hearts in thanksgiving to God the Almighty for all his marvelous deeds.
My dear students! Every new academic year brings new hopes and goals for life. Every new dawn brings fresh chance, it brings new hope. Yes! This is the beginning of anything you want.
The new academic year discloses all the possibilities to learn, renew and excel in every field of your interest with new faces. In fact, St. John Bosco believed in the principal of making everything new and interesting to mould the young minds.

Greetings from Rev. Fr. Principal, DB Egmore!!

“Real Education should consist of drawing the goodness and the best out of our own students. What better book can there be than the book of humanity.”

I am immensely happy to pen these few lines through this official website. Don Bosco, Egmore has established its own rich glory and merits over the past 61 years in Academics, Sports and Extra-curricular activities with par excellence. Due to the onslaught of the media and IT gadgets, teachers, parents and students have been influenced to a great extent. As a result of this, life has taken a drastic turn in the family, school and society.

Don Bosco often used to say “Education is of the heart and not of the mind, Education is the basis to learn and unlearn what is effective and fruitful for life”. As the Principal, it was a joy for me to see the students of DB Egmore shine in all spheres of life. But our education will be holistic and effective only if we give importance to values, relationships and respect for teachers, elders and a prominent place for the Almighty. Let us all resolve to have reverence to the Almighty, be relationship oriented, child friendly, eco friendly rather than being attached to gadgets.

May this academic year help the management, the teachers and the students to collaborate and co-operate to achieve the above goals.

We give thanks to thee, o God; we give thanks: we call on thy name and recount thy wondrous deeds. Psalm 75:1

Dear Friends,

Don Bosco  Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Egmore, concludes its Academic year 2017-18, with joy and gratitude to God. This year has been something special, for it has witnessed the conclusion of the Diamond Jubilee (1958-2018) on 19th and 20th January 2018. The Salesian Fraternity in Don Bosco, Egmore, gives thanks to God and recounts all His wonderful deeds manifested in different occasions. One can never finish thanking God sufficiently for the innumerable blessings bestowed.

Let us continue to thank God for all the days of our life. In this way, we will fulfil His purpose of creating us as human beings. In the Holy Bible, we find kings, prophets and the chosen people of Israel thanking God for their salvation. We find Jesus thanking His God the Father for sending Him as a Saviour and Redeemer of the world. We find Jesus sending Don Bosco as our father and friend. Don Bosco remained grateful to God for all his human and spiritual accomplishments, only for the sake of saving souls. As we enlist our various reasons to be thankful to God, let us remember that He is our true Teacher and Shepherd.

As I complete my term of office as Principal of Don Bosco School, Egmore, I believe that God  is my true  Teacher  and Shepherd. I thank each and every one of you for being a big support to the School and making it ever more glorious.

Great is your faithfulness

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
We thank God for another year of study, reflection and a happy living. As we are in the threshold of our School’s Diamond Jubilee (1958-2018) let us become aware of God’s steadfast love to each and everyone of us and acknowledge the same in the years to come. The sixth decade is nearing its completion with untold tales, glorious accomplishments and selfless service rendered to the society. We owe all glory and honour to God and at the same time appreciate and thank all the Rectors, Principals, Parents, Teachers, Students, Support staff and well wishers who made a remarkable contribution to Don Bosco School, Egmore for its welfare and goodness. May we all strive to make a little more difference in the lives of the poor people like our father and founder St.John Bosco. Let all our duties be carried out with love, conviction and commitment. As we thank God for the Diamond Jubilee of the School let us pledge ourselves to be more faithful, holy and happy.

Congratulations for the 60 years of service

Fr. Rosario Auditorium

Apr 12, 2016

Dear Friends, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Rev. Fr. Rosario Krishnaraj was chosen by God to lead his flock. Don Bosco Egmore is proud to have had him as the Principal of the Primary School from 1976-1982. He has left an undaunted mark of love and respect in the hearts of every one. Fr. Rosario Krishnaraj lived an exemplary life following the footsteps of our father and founder St. John Bosco. His fatherly presence was felt everywhere he went.
The Salesian fraternity at Don Bosco, Egmore is proud to dedicate a well furnished Hi-tech Auditorium, as a reminder of the Christ filled legacy which Fr. Rosario has left behind for us, a fond remembrance for all the services he has rendered to this
institution.

Beckoned by the memories we bear of him, we are assured that Fr. Rosario, through the glory of God will shine down his gentle light of blessings on this memorable occasion.

Farewell 2015-2016

 Feb 20, 2016

My Dear Students of Class XII, I wish to offer you two reflections on this day of your farewell.
The theme that we have chosen for your farewell is from the song, 'You raise me up". This theme is very much fitting for you all. Dear students of Class XII, you can boldly say today,Jesus, you have raised me up from my sinfulness to holiness,Don Bosco, you raised me up from my gloomy society to a brighter world,
Dad – Mom, you raised me up from my weaknesses to strength,
Teachers, you have raised me up from my waywardness to hopefulness,
This enlightenment can go on....

Today they have raised you up to the mountain top and tomorrow is given to you, to raise up someone else. Someone who is poor, neglected and illiterate. It is a big challenge but an easy task to accomplish only if you have an heart for the poor
The second reflection that I want to give you is on the memento that you have received today. The memento is presented to you in the form of a flame with your name engraved on it. Jesus said, ''you are light of the world. Your light must shine in people's sight, so that seeing your goodworks, they may give praise to your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5: 14,16)

My dear students carry in your heart this light or flame of love and charity to every nook andcorner of the world and be messengers of Jesus Christ.

Don Bosco Our Model

Jan 16, 2016

Each one of us is called by God and given a mission to fullfil, but thequestion is have we taken it seriously as Don Bosco? We are blessed with good family, friends, food, education and luxury. We tend to take life for granted and live it in a way we want, not realizing the purpose that God has for each one of us. Don Bosco did three years of high school in one scholastic year and one summer. His exceptional memory and intensive study habits made the self –motivated boy to grow up not losing sight of his vocation. Let’s learn from him this Strong Conviction and Focus to achieve our goals. Don Bosco insisted on four values for any student – i.Alwayshave a clear conscience, ii.Moderation in eating, iii.Active life, iv.Surround yourself with good companions. Don Bosco would say, “The school was not the end; it was rather the instrumental means for improving the way of life.Let Don Bosco be our model in all that we do.

Charity sees the need not the cause

Dec 5, 2015

The recent northeast monsoon has brought in 119 cm rainfall to Chennai. We were totally unprepared to handle floods. As a result we witnessed clogged and overflowing drains, inundated housingcolonies, rotting garbage, electrocutions and roads caving in at many places. Besides this, we have lost lives, houses, valuable documents, money and vehicles. These days people around us are homeless, powerless and sleepless. The Lord has protected us during this turbulent period and He will continue to protect us in the future. Let us extend our gratitude to the Lord by showing acts of kindness to those who are in need of food, medicine, shelter and clothes. In doing this service to the less previledged, let us remind ourselves the saying of Jesus, ''in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.'' Matthew 25:40.

Discipline

Nov 9, 2015

Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding (Proverbs 15: 32).For ‘Discipline’ which is a streak of divinity, controls the human actions, thoughts, words and deeds, thereby altering and enhancing at every stage the ability to excel to even higher grounds, in terms of character, personality and achievements. Discipline therefore serves as one of the corner stones in the foundation on which life should be shaped for an individual to realize his self worth.

Honor thy Parents

 Oct 05, 2015

“Honor your Father and your Mother that you may have long life in the land which the LORD, your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12). Our parents had given us life. They sustain and look after our needs. They give us love, joy and happiness day in and day out and they are always interested in our welfare. What do we give them in return? We owe them a great deal of Gratitude, Respect and Honor. To look on them with love and appreciation for the selfless act of caring for us, whenever, we do this the LORD will bless us with long life.

All athletes are disciplined in their training

Jul 6, 2015

The original Olympic Games are usually dated back to around 776 BC. Since then people have shown much interest in sports. Sports give us a sense about competition, training, winning, losing, and being prepared. Sports offer an environment where mental, emotional, physical and spiritual attributes are showcased. Sports are a great place to work out your faith. All athletes are disciplined in their training. As one gets trained in any sports activity, he gets disciplined and learns to work in a team. I wish that this Annual Athletic Meet in YMCA College of Physical Education, Nadanam, Chennai on 10 th July 2015 help you to become more disciplined and bring you many more laurels to the school.
